The sunset was beautiful. The fading light turned the ocean into liquid gold. Only the wake of the cruise ship marred the seemingly metallic surface. But even with that imperfection, it was still beautiful.

So many things in life were beautiful despite their imperfections. People. Relationships. Memories.

She reached for her glass. The tequila glowed as it caught a shaft of the sunlight. For a moment, she admired the brilliant gold color of the alcohol. Then she took a sip and sighed at the delightful burn as it slid down her throat.

Mike always made fun of her for her fondness of tequila. And while she enjoyed the occasional beer or glass of wine, tequila was always her favorite. She didn’t know what that said about her. Mike said it just meant that she was a different kind of woman.

Apparently a tequila-drinking woman was just Mike’s kind if the gold band on her finger was any indication. She enjoyed another taste of the tequila. The sunlight gleamed off her ring as she set the glass back down.

She glanced at the lounge chair beside hers. She watched as the wind played with his dark blonde hair. He looked so boyish while he napped in the fading sunlight.

It was a moment she would treasure. They were just starting out in their life together. There would be bumps and fights and misunderstandings along the way. She realized that. But she hoped there would be other golden moments.
